Monkeypox is a disease caused by a virus not commonly seen in the United States. However, monkeypox cases recently have been found in the United States. As of today, 8/4/22, there are no confirmed cases in Chautauqua County. We are monitoring the situation and are working with public health authorities to stop the further spread of the current monkeypox outbreak. If we all know the facts and work together, we can help to stop the spread of monkeypox.

Heart disease is a leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Most middle-aged and young adults have one or more risk factors for heart disease, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or being a smoker or overweight. Having multiple risk factors increases your risk for heart disease.

Free at-home COVID-19 test kits are now available through the United States Government.

Each household can order up to four COVID-19 rapid antigen tests. The test kits will be delivered to your home by the U.S Postal Service.

HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a common virus that can cause cancers later in life.

Quadrant Biosciences is offering free COVID-19 PCR testing in Jamestown on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and in Dunkirk on Tuesday and Thursdays until further notice. The test is a PCR saliva test. Results will be emailed within 24-48 hours.

All women are at risk for cervical cancer. It occurs most often in women over age 30. Each year, more than 13,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United States. Yet cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers today. In most cases cervical cancer can be prevented through early detection and treatment of abnormal cell changes that occur in the cervix years before cervical cancer develops.

The New York State Department of Education requires an annual physical examination conducted by a New York State Physician for new entrants, and students in Grades K, 2, 4, 7 and 10.

The New York State Department of Health will hold a mass vaccination site at Jamestown Community College in Olean to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible residents of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua County residents.

MAYVILLE, NY: As of January 15, New Yorkers eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination can only use the states online Am I Eligible? Tool (https://am-i-eligible. covid19vaccine. health. ny. gov/) to connect to a vaccination clinic run by the State of New York.

The FDA recently granted emergency approval of Pfizer + BioNtech's COVID-19 Vaccine. This is fantastic news and a positive step forward in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Chautauqua County Health Department reports expanded free COVID-19 testing sites in Jamestown and Dunkirk during the week of October 26-30. These clinics are being made possible through a partnership with a New York State testing initiative in Western New York that includes additional Abbott ID Now analyzers, testing supplies and contract staff. Drive-thru testing clinics will be held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30 at the following locations:

Dr. Vivien Redeye is an Army Reserve physician from Irving, NY. She was mobilized with Urban Augmentation Medical Task Force 7458 to provide support to Harlingen Medical Center in South Texas as part of the Department of Defense assistance to the Federal Emergency Management Agency response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Assigned to Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen. Texas, Dr. Redeye provided care for COVID-19 patients.
