Family Health Medical Services is proud to announce the winning recipients of the 2020 FHMS Health Sciences Scholarship.
The award was created in 2019 for high school students graduating from Chautauqua Lake Central School, Panama Central School and Maple Grove High School. The scholarship is awarded to qualifying students who are enrolling full time to receive a degree in public health, health science, nursing or other health related field.
Chautauqua County, like most rural counties in the country, suffers from a significant lack of healthcare providers and this award is aimed at addressing this need. There is 1 provider for every 1760 inhabitants of this county while the national average is 1 per 750 citizens. Our hope is that by helping local students go on to college level studies in the healthcare field, some if not all will return to this area to practice in their profession of choice.
Congratulations to Alyssa Reynolds, Chautauqua Lake Central School and Hope Marshall, Maple Grove Sr. High School.
We wish you continued success throughout your college career and on.
