Telemedicine

Family Health Medical Services (FHMS) is proud to offer existing patients a range of virtual medical care services through our telemedicine program. Now you can get the care you need — wherever you may be.

Why Schedule a Virtual Visit?

Now you can skip the waiting room — virtual visits let you speak with your care team from the comfort of your own home. With telemedicine, you can get the answers you need without the worry or inconvenience of getting to a doctor’s office. Additional benefits of our telemedicine virtual visits include:

  • Timely, face-to-face care whenever you have a concern.
  • You no longer have to travel when you aren’t feeling well.
  • Virtual visits are quick and convenient.
  • Telemedicine can help prevent unnecessary visits to urgent care or the ER.
  • Caregivers and family members can join the visit.
  • Avoid a second trip to the office by scheduling your follow-up visit online.

What to Know Before You Book a Virtual Visit

The most important thing to know before your virtual visit is that these calls are face-to-face appointments with FHMS Physicians. We recommend that all our patients treat this virtual call as if they were in the office. Please avoid any activities you would not do at traditional doctor’s office.

Currently, we do not conduct virtual visits for new patients coming to FHMS for the first time or patients that need a physical. Virtual visits are ideal for sick patients or anyone who needs a follow up appointment with their physician. Under rare circumstance FHMS may be able to work with a patient to make a virtual accommodation, but this is left up to FHMS’ discretion.

Tips to Prepare for Your Virtual Visit

Before your visit, you will need either a fully charged phone, tablet, or computer with camera and video capabilities that is connected to the internet. If you do not have video, we can arrange a telephone visit.

When scheduling your appointment, FHMS will send you a link to use at the time of your visit to connect with a physician. If you choose to receive the link via text, we will need to know your cell phone provider. You can also receive your appointment link via email.

Other tips to help prepare for your virtual visit include:

  • Make sure to keep track of your symptoms including when they started.
  • Track your temperature, blood pressure, weight, and any other vitals when possible.
  • Have a list of any chronic conditions and medications you may have.
  • Have your prescription pill bottle(s) ready to answer any questions the physician may have.
  • Before your call, prepare a list of questions you may have for your doctor.
  • Have a pen and paper ready to take notes if needed.
  • Make sure to charge your phone, computer, or other device you may be using for the call.
  • Find a quiet space to ensure clear communication with your physician.
  • Be ready 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment with your device powered on and ready.
