Scrambler Therapy

Scrambler Therapy® for Chronic Neuropathic Pain

Are you tired of battling chronic neuropathic pain? If so, Scrambler Therapy® might be the breakthrough you've been looking for.

What is Scrambler Therapy®?

Scrambler Therapy® is a state-of-the-art medical device that offers a non-invasive, drug-free solution to chronic neuropathic and oncologic pain. Electrical stimulation aims to replace painful nerve signals with non-painful ones, essentially resetting the brain's response to pain.

What Does Scrambler Therapy® Treat?

This cutting-edge therapy is designed to relieve most types of chronic neuropathic pain that haven’t responded to traditional approaches such as medication, injections, or surgery.

How Does Scrambler Therapy® Work?

The device delivers small electrical currents through disposable EKG electrodes placed around the painful area, providing "non-pain" signals to counteract the "pain" messages received by nerve fibers.

A new review paper co-authored by two Johns Hopkins pain experts suggests that scrambler therapy, a noninvasive pain treatment, can yield significant relief for approximately 80%–90% of patients with chronic pain, and it may be more effective than another noninvasive therapy: transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). The write-up was published online July 13 in The New England Journal of Medicine.

What are Some Examples of Conditions it Can Treat?

Scrambler Therapy® can effectively improve a range of neuropathic conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Chronic Neuropathic Back & Neck Pain, with Radiating Pain.
  • Chronic Cancer Pain
  • Post-Surgical Neuropathic Pain
  • Diabetic Neuropathy
  • Postherpetic Neuralgia (pain after shingles)
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
How Long Does Treatment Take?

Typically, a full treatment involves about ten sessions over two weeks. While some patients may need fewer sessions, others may require more based on their response. Each session lasts around 45 minutes, and many patients report improvement after just one session. Patients can expect to be in the office for an hour per treatment.
