STUDENT PHYSICALS

Student Physicals

A school or college physical is a routine health exam required by many schools to make sure students are healthy, up to date on immunizations, and ready to participate safely in school activities or sports. During the visit, a healthcare provider reviews the student’s medical history, checks height, weight, vision, hearing, and vital signs, and performs a general physical exam. They may also update or verify required vaccinations and complete any necessary school forms. The purpose of this physical is to catch potential health issues early and ensure students are physically prepared for the upcoming school year or athletic programs.

Sports Physical

A sports physical, also called a pre-participation physical exam, is a check-up that ensures an athlete is healthy and physically ready to play their chosen sport safely. During the exam, the provider reviews the athlete’s medical history, checks vital signs, vision, heart, lungs, joints, and muscles, and asks about any past injuries or symptoms during exercise. The goal is to identify any health concerns that could increase the risk of injury or medical problems during physical activity. Once completed, the provider signs a clearance form confirming that the athlete is fit to participate in sports.
