Fit-For-Duty Physicals

A fit-for-duty exam is a medical evaluation used to determine whether an employee is physically and mentally able to perform the essential functions of their job safely and effectively. These exams are often requested after an injury, illness, extended leave, or if there are concerns about an employee’s ability to work safely. During the exam, a healthcare provider reviews the employee’s medical history, assesses their physical and functional abilities, and may perform specific tests related to job duties. The goal is to ensure that the employee can return to work or continue working without risking their own health or the safety of others.
